Winners Announced for ULI Annual Housing Awards

The Urban Land Institute Terwilliger Center for Housing has announced seven winning residential projects for the 2021 Jack Kemp Excellence in Affordable and Workforce Housing Awards, which will be celebrated at the ULI Fall Meeting in Chicago (October 11–14). Meanwhile, affordable and workforce housing policies and programs put in place by the governments of Alexandria, Virginia, and Minneapolis, Minnesota, have been selected as joint winners of the 2021 Urban Land Institute Robert C. Larson Housing Policy Leadership Awards.

Equitable Investment in Infrastructure and Housing Now Available

2021 ULI Prize for Visionaries in Urban Development Winner: Jonathan F.P. Rose

One of the housing industry’s most respected practitioners of green, affordable, and mixed-income community development, Jonathan F.P. Rose has been named the 2021 recipient of the ULI Prize for Visionaries in Urban Development. The $100,000 ULI Prize recognizes an individual who has made a distinguished contribution to community building globally, who has established visionary standards of excellence in the land use and development field, and whose commitment to creating the highest-quality built environment has led to the betterment of society. ULI Foundation Announces $1 Million Gift to Launch Effort to Decarbonize Cities

Owen Thomas, CEO of Boston Properties Inc. and former Global Chair of ULI, is donating $1 million to launch the Net Zero Imperative, which will convene Institute members to develop ideas and strategies for decarbonizing the built environment.

The Net Zero Imperative will sponsor technical assistance panels in multiple locations worldwide each year, bringing together public- and private-sector leaders to develop a roadmap to accelerate decarbonization efforts for the panel sponsors and the greater community. Find out more.

Final Showdown – UrbanPlan National Competition
In 2020, ULI held its first-ever UrbanPlan National Student Competition. Ten teams of high school students who completed UrbanPlan in 2020 at school joined. They went through the UrbanPlan exercise again but responded to an additional set of criteria from the city that prompted them to consider COVID-19 and its impact on a community.
