A.O. Flats at Forest Hills, Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts is a highly sustainable LEED Platinum–certified, transit-oriented, mixed-income community. Built on a once-vacant Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority site, the development is within walking distance of Forest Hills MBTA Station, the Arnold Arboretum, the Southwest Corridor Park, local restaurants, and cultural venues. It transforms a previously underutilized parcel into an important asset.

The building has 78 apartments, 1,600 square feet of retail space, and 2,500 square feet of community space to host resident amenities that include a business hub, fitness room, lounge, outdoor play area, dog walk, and bicycle storage.

The development prioritized racial equity and inclusion through its contracting and hiring goals, and of the project’s total construction contract value, 38 percent went to Minority Business Enterprise firms and 13 percent to Women Business Enterprise firms.

The City of Boston, MassHousing, and nonprofit agencies, HomeStart and Department of Neighborhood Development, successfully collaborated with The Community Builders to realize this important housing option for Boston area residents.
