2022 ULI Prize Winner—Jeanne Gang
Jeanne Gang is the 2022 recipient of the ULI Prize for Visionaries in Urban Development.
Mountain Lake is a freshwater lake located in Giles County, Virginia approximately 32 airline miles northwest of Roanoke and about a 30-minute drive from the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg. The property, commonly referred to as Mountain Lake consists of 2,600 acres of forested land, a 55- acre lakebed and lodging facilities totaling 100 rooms, including hotel rooms, historic log cabins, a lodge building, and modern cottages. The property also houses guest amenities and 25 miles of trails. Mountain Lake is famous as the filming location for the movie Dirty Dancing.
In 2011, an Advisory Services Panel was conducted and provided strategic advice on a variety of physical and organizational structure issues for the Mountain Lake Lodge. In 2022, a new ULI Advisory Service Panel was conducted to provide the additional advice regarding adapting to contemporary trends in lodging and resort management. Both panels were private undertakings and their recommendations confidential.
