Housing Opportunity Conference
ULI’s premier annual housing conference brings together a diverse mix of private and nonprofit real estate developers, public officials, urban and regional planners, housing advocates, architects, investors, and lenders with one common goal – to expand opportunities for a full range of residential development in their communities. Housing Opportunity 2020 was held in Miami, FL from February 24-26, 2020. Housing Opportunity 2021 will be held virtually March 16-17, 2021. For more information and to register, check out the Housing Opportunity Conference webpage.
ULI/Charles H. Shaw Forum on Urban Community Issues
The Shaw Forum brings together approximately 25 experts and leading practitioners of urban development and public leadership to address the challenges and opportunities of urban neighborhoods. Shaw Forums have covered such topics as capitalizing on the new markets tax credit; involving the community in neighborhood planning; making parks accessible to the community; community development corporations partnering with for-profit developers; managing gentrification; and green affordable housing. The Terwilliger Center team works with ULI’s other content areas to coordinate this annual event.
Legacy Forum for Multifamily Housing
The Legacy Forum, formerly the ULI/Carolyn and Preston Butcher Forum, is an annual invitation-only forum that brings together 25-30 executives from across the multifamily housing industry to explore various aspects of the industry, including shifts in public policies, trends affecting demand, and innovative financing. The Terwilliger Center works with Preston Butcher and Ron Terwilliger to organize the gathering during ULI’s Spring Meeting. For more information on past Legacy Forums, click here.
Rental Housing Affordability Symposium
Together with the Multifamily and Affordable-Workforce Housing Councils, the Center coordinates a day-long symposium at ULI’s Fall Meeting. This Symposium brings public sector officials into the room to explore the issues facing housing affordability; how to frame the discussion to get community buy-in; tools for preserving naturally occurring affordable housing (NOAH); and other strategies for expanding housing opportunities and more inclusive communities.
