POSITION SUMMARY:
The Urban Land Institute (ULI) is a world leader in shaping the future of the built environment for transformative impact in communities worldwide. ULI Cincinnati is the region’s thought leader in promoting sustainable land use and growth in our communities. Interacting with roughly 280 members across Greater Cincinnati and Dayton, the Director, ULI Cincinnati, leverages a diverse group of land use and development experts to positively affect the built environment. Through strong member engagement and information resources, ULI Cincinnati has been able to set standards of excellence in the development practice, locally and regionally.
This is a part-time (30 hours per week) position, located in Cincinnati, Ohio.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director, ULI Cincinnati, reports to Vice President, ULI District Councils, Americas. The Director will work with the District Council Coordinator to deliver the responsibilities below, and is accountable to volunteer members, including the District Council Chair, Governance Committee, and Advisory Board, to deliver the annual strategy and action plan. This position requires some local and U.S. travel, including attendance at the annual ULI Spring and Fall meetings and staff summits.
- Leadership:
- Oversees and governs ULI Cincinnati resources, including District Council Coordinator, budget, and related business contracts.
- Collaborates with the Chair and Governance Committee to optimize the benefit of the Advisory Board for strategic advice, financial support, and engagement of senior leaders; fosters a leadership pipeline.
- Creates, amends, and executes a strategic long-term plan to position ULI Cincinnati as the thought leader for the local real estate community.
- Develops and executes strategies that build diversity in race, culture, gender, expertise, and leadership to constructively influence development and land use policies.
- Engagement:
- In conjunction with the Advisory Board, develops and executes a comprehensive sponsorship program that cultivates sponsor relationships, recruits new sponsors, and integrates sponsorship participation into programs and initiatives of the District Council.
- In conjunction with the Programs Committee, works to ensure that ULI Cincinnati is delivering regular and evocative programs to its membership and the overall real estate community in Greater Cincinnati.
- Works with the Real Estate Accelerator Lab (REAL) Board to implement the REAL program, including creating strategy, curriculum, and recruitment and facilitating each session.
- Encourages participation in ULI Student Competitions and organizes ULI Cincinnati support and mentorship of local entrants.
- Outreach:
- Maintains and promotes ULI Cincinnati as a diverse group of land use and development experts who positively influence the built environment.
- Along with the Membership Committee, develops and executes a plan to retain and grow membership by delivering a strong value proposition and expanding engagement opportunities for a diverse membership base.
- Influence:
- Recruits participants for and oversees technical assistance panels that convene member experts to advise local jurisdictions, nonprofit entities, and other regional organizations on local real estate and land use challenges.
- Proactively seeks and writes grant applications that further the objectives of ULI Cincinnati.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will possess many of the experiences and traits listed below:
- 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in real estate and land use, community development, and/or nonprofit administration, preferably in Greater Cincinnati.
- Proven leader, collaborator, and hands-on professional.
- Strong working knowledge of the Greater Cincinnati real estate community.
- Working knowledge of the Urban Land Institute and ULI Cincinnati.
- Proven networking skills.
- Fundraising experience.
- Advanced organizational and meeting management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to respond quickly and calmly in a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills.
- A results-driven approach.
- Proven financial acumen.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience.
