Director, Security and Data Privacy
This is a full-time, exempt position, located in Washington, D.C.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Greenprint, the Urban Land Institute’s Greenprint Center for Building Performance (Greenprint) is seeking a Senior Associate to support the implementation of key programs, undertake research, and coordinate activities across the center’s climate mitigation programs.
ULI’s Greenprint Center for Building Performance is a research center and worldwide alliance of leading real estate owners, investors, and strategic partners committed to improving the environmental performance of the global real estate industry. Through measurement, benchmarking, knowledge sharing, and implementation of best practices, Greenprint and its members strive to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent by 2030 and achieve net-zero carbon operations by 2050.
Core areas of focus for Greenprint center on reducing carbon and thus building value across the built environment. This includes the development of research reports and resources on the business case for high-performance green buildings, the convening of market leaders to advance sustainability in real estate, the analysis of portfolio-wide benchmark performance of ULI Greenprint members, and the promotion of results to the broader ULI membership and real estate market at large.
The position is full-time, exempt, and located in either New York or Washington, D.C.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Serve as a core research resource, working with research and report leads to research and write reports and other publications. Conduct interviews, write up case studies, analyze data, locate images, and so on. Research responsibilities are likely to include the creation of Greenprint reports around the business case for carbon reduction, through such topics as creating a collection of tenant engagement ESG best practices, or a toolkit for incorporating sustainability in real estate development. This also includes leading the publication and promotion process for the resource publications.
• Support the engagement of ULI Greenprint real estate members in ensuring that sufficient value-add and thought leadership is being provided to this group. This includes supporting monthly Greenprint member calls, fostering member connections, and managing member data analysis for the annual “State of Green” Performance Report.
• Support the occasional implementation of climate mitigation advisory activities, workshops, and convenings by identifying expert panelists, making local arrangements, preparing summaries, supporting impact evaluations, etc. This may include support of technical panels through the ULI Net Zero Imperative initiative.
• Support internal coordination with ULI staff, member leaders, and members, and lead internal team coordination efforts.
• Limited administrative responsibilities, such as printing program materials, submitting invoices for payment, tracking budgets, scheduling meetings, and the like.
EXPERIENCE:
• At least 3 years of related experience.
• A strategic thinker, a strong writer, a problem solver, and an excellent communicator.
• Comfortable engaging with ULI members and partners.
• Interest in or experience with sustainability, climate change, green buildings, urban planning, real estate, or related topics.
• Able to maintain keen attention to details, timelines, and various moving project pieces.
• Strong research and writing skills—ready to be a major contributor to ULI research reports, case studies, and toolkits.
• Moderate data analysis skills—capable of running pivot tables and benchmarking of data.
TRAVEL:
Travel within the United States as required. A reasonable expectation would be three trips a year, each with a duration of two to three days.
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, urban planning, real estate, and/or a related field.
• LEED GA accreditation preferred.
